Validator / Node Operator FAQs

Thank you for helping Axelar to build its decentralized network. We appreciate your interest in running a mainnet validator!

:loud_sound: How do I run a node on the Axelar network?

For instructions on how to run a node on the Axelar Network, please take a look at our official documentation: Node configuration | Axelar Network

:loud_sound: What is the role of a validator on Axelar Network?

Node operators and validators play an essential role in the Axelar network infrastructure. Not only you can contribute to the decentralization and security of the network but you can also participate in consensus by producing blocks and validating transactions.

Beyond this, Axelar validators also earn additional rewards by participating in multi-party cryptography and voting on external chain events. For more information, visit Rewards and Transaction Fees for the Axelar Network | by Axelar Foundation | Medium

:loud_sound: How can I become a mainnet validator?

Please have a look at the following docs: How to join as Validator Overview | Axelar Network

Presently, Axelar’s mainnet Validators are selected from the testnet. The selection process follows these guidelines:

:point_right: Validators must first establish a track record of good performance on testnet before Foundation will consider them for mainnet at this stage of the rollout.
:point_right: The Axelar team will delegate testnet stake to validators who support all EVM chains, post consistent heartbeat, etc.

If you are interested in becoming a validator, you are encouraged to set up your node on testnet-2. Please keep in mind that the validator sets on both chains are full at the moment, feel free to try to apply through this link:

:loud_sound: Where can I find instructions for joining the mainnet Validator set (once approved)?

:loud_sound: How is communication between Validators and the Axelar team handled?

Once approved as a mainnet validator, you will have access to the #mainnet-validator channel in Axelar’s official Discord server. Mainnet validators are also subscribed to Axelar’s mailing list for validators. Please ensure to whitelist emails from Axelar.

Non-time critical notifications will only be published in Discord. For time critical notifications, we’ll use email following the scheme below:
